Profile

I'm a 25 year old web developer with around 7 years expereince working on various projects ranging from some small local companies to some major global companies such as Royal Bank of Scotland, HSBC, Northern Rock, JCB amongst others.

I began working as a web developer when I was 18 years of age and learnt my skills by doing minor amends to websites, I later began working on small 2 or 3 page websites for companies in the area before carrying on and progressing further.

I started out by basically reading through a HTML book during my spare time within my first company where I worked as an Admin Assistant, I began working at the company on a college placement scheme with no web development experience at all and left 5 years later after working on numerous projects ranging from small brochure websites to full CSS templated online stores.

The websites which I began working on were all standard but I'll admit hideous imbedded table layouts from which I progressed onto learning how to create CSS templated websites whilst also looking into developing more accessibility friendly websites to W3C standards.

I have also developed one website which was later used by the company I worked for to become a member of the Guild of Accessible Web Designers (GAWDS). This site was built aiming for the W3C AAA rating and also aiming to pass the pesonal inspection which GAWDS uses.

The next company I moved onto I worked on bigger websites in more of a support role, receiving and implimenting amends from the client for their website and then communicating with them regarding the status of the updates.

The main website I worked on was for Northern Rock which I updated their various websites for the 10 months I worked at the company. When working their I loved every minute of it and learn't quite alot of working as a team and carrying out strict processes as before I worked as a 1 man team on projects. I went from working by myself on sites from start to finish doing the design, communication with client, development and signoff to working as part of a team with designers, developers, project managers and lead developers.

I can't really say to much about my time within my second job as to be honest I've covered everything already, I worked as a team, I learnt alot about things like CSS, HTML, XML and bits of ASP/Javascript, but mostly all I need to say is I loved every minute of my time within the company and had a great time.

When I left I moved south to Heathwallace in Reading which yet again I moved on and learnt alot of new things, mostly I learnt about myself, I learnt how to take control of the situation and manage tasks/projects, I learn't how not only to work as a team but also either manage the team or make suggestions to make us work better, how to improve procedures within the company and more.

Within Heathwallace my job role is mostly to work on support for Royal Bank of Scotland websites but have also worked as a templater on sites, content migration and occassionally worked in a lead developer role where I'd communicate with other developers and designers to determine what everyone has to do to complete the project we are working on.
